In East Berlin, an old church rises amid oversized prefab housing, home to Stasi agents. A charismatic pastor, accompanying his sermons with guitar and synthesizer, engages in heated disputes with his surroundings. Young GDR citizens passionately debate leftist ideas and theology incompatible with the party’s prescribed path.

The dictatorship seeks to suppress any dissent but becomes increasingly aware that it is losing control. Underground concerts by banned artists, spontaneous street parades by dissenters, and harassment and intrigues by undercover agents shape the atmosphere. Yet, amidst these turbulences, there is a spirit of self-organization, solidarity, and idealism paving the way for a peaceful revolution.

The podcast "Friedrichsfelder Friedensfunken" spans four episodes and provides insights into vibrant community life, grassroots movements, environmental and peace activities, and the eventful history of East Berlin in the 1980s.

In the 1990s, an independent group of dream researchers emerged. They collected dreams from around the world and noticed that one day, people from different corners of the world dreamt of playing with children on the playground of an unfinished house, very similar in descriptions.

Over time, the common dream locations increased. This gave rise to the "dream hackers" community and an online forum where people shared their dreams and helped each other control them. As the story of the dream hackers unfolded, threats of government persecution, mysterious disappearances, ideological adversaries, and genuine scientific research emerged.

Journalist Nastya Larionova infiltrates the hacker communities and, through her own experience, attempts to unravel the mystery of lucid dreaming. She learns from a dream curator, delves into the depths of caves with voodoo practitioners, tries herbs, and sleeps in a special lucid dreaming helmet, and explores whether lucid dreaming can change one’s real life.

"Drawing on contemporary mycological research in creating their works, artists help the viewer understand the intricate connections of fungal life," comments curator Khristina Ots.

The exhibition program includes an interactive sound installation related to the study of the photosensitive properties of fungi, works exploring how cybernetic ideas of the future can merge with mycelium—the internet of the forest, a meditating slime mold, a living one-and-a-half-meter sculpture made of mycelium, and other works.

rethinking the yurt
by modern-day Kazakhs
The form and materials of the traditional yurt make for a perfect acoustic environment. We created a space for dialogue and sound experimentation.

Inside the yurt, there was a stand with a microphone for anyone who wanted to speak. A sound engineer adjusted the audio accompaniment for the guests and recorded all sounds—emotions, poems, singing.

During the performance, people discussed politics, love, fears, and experiencing emotions ranging from tears to tranquility and unity

The show's premise was in line with the brand's main message: "Be yourself with me." It was authentic and candid, and it helped create brand affinity towards Badoo.

Brand's comment:

We were captivated by Tolk's idea to create a format where the center of attention isn't held by someone's looks, but by someone's personality, their unique voice. This was our first experience in such a format, and it was a great way to remind users and listeners that lookism shouldn't exist anywhere. Neither in dating apps nor in real life.
